Terengganu in Crisis
March 22, 2008
Salam,
(Updates at the bottom)
Things are heating up in Terengganu. The Sultan of Terenggany, HM Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin who is apparently the YDP Agong of Malaysia does not consent the appointment of DS Idris Jusoh as the Menteri Besar of Terengganu. He appointed Dato Ahmad Said as the new MB for Terengganu.

However, conflicts are brewing as the 22 UMNO state assemblymen in Terengganu are threatening to boycott the appointment event. I don’t know what’s wrong with Idris Jusoh, really. I read some stuff about him but has no way of verifying the story, thus not posting it here. But, Ahmad Said.. If any of you had seen his video in Sidang Dun Terengganu, you guys should know him. The one that goes uncontrollably abusive with his words. So, I don’t really have much respect on him neither. But, the sultan seems to be more comfy with this guy rather than having the incumbent. He should know best. And on another news, some people from BN said that he can be punished if he accepts the post.
The nightline in Malaysia also stated that a political personnel is being investigated by BPR for some corruption cases in Kijal, Terengganu which happens to have Ahmad Said as the assembly person. Ironic, isn’t it? Didn’t they filtered the list of candidates going to the election? What’s up with this, then?
Here’s some more. If you read the news, you’ll hear demonstration in Penang and Shah Alam recently. Some of them (Maybe most, maybe all), are led by UMNO members. One of the issue that they brought up was about Lim Kit Siang and his statement of boycotting the pelantikan MB of Perak event. The next day, he apologized. Later, he personally met the Regent to apologize again. Bad action, he did but he apologized. These people kept on demonstrating on the issue despite his apology. And now, they should be thinking of demonstrating in Terengganu for the actions of 22 YBs here in Terengganu’s DUN. At least, it’s only Lim Kit Siang in Perak and not DAP negeri.
(sigh). Living in the world full of WOW!
Note: I’m still waiting for the news today. I’m sure they will quickly clean this mess up by apologizing or something. More like I hope. If not, UMNO themselves are in trouble for not keeping up with their words. (Demonstrating was not their culture as they said before the election. The didn’t keep up with this anymore). All and all, one day should be enough for them to solve the problems. Anyway, having a by-election for Terengganu’s DUN is not a bad idea.
.
So…UMNO, apologize, please.
update: 9.09 pm 3/22/08 CT: Ahmad Said terima watikah perisytiharan MB Terengganu from the royal council. Nothing heard from UMNO assemblymen.
update: 9.38 pm 3/22/08 CT: Ahmad Said’s UMNO membership stripped off for disobeying Central committee decision. http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2008/3/23/nation/20730032&sec=nation
Haih, politics in Malaysia da totally corrupted. At this point, we’ll never know sape yang baik and tak. Maybe there’s a reason why the Sultan choose Ahmad Said over Idris Jusoh. UMNO, is currently having a critical problem and they should fix it as soon as possible if they still want to protect the Malays.Demonstration isn’t the right way to protest (kot), what more disobeying the Sultan.
By-election for Terengganu seems impossible. BN just can’t afford to another lost.
Seriously….
the sultan Terengganu is making a big mistake by electing ahmad Said as the MB. Just by watching one of Ahmad Siad’s video makes me thinks is this person really a YB. Sometimes Sultan makes mistake also. I support Idris Jusoh….
hehe.. blogging dah sekarang eh.. welcome to the club! lol
Huhhu.. terok betol orang UMNo ni ingkar kat sultan.. lim kit siang ingkar derang bising habis2… ni derang buat. diam je.. tak reti bahase betol..
Klu susah sangat nk lantik MB, bagi kat PAS sudah.. lol.. pas ramai skit orang berkaliber.. seriously, i can’t find anybody in UMNO’s rank that is better quailified…
and betol oya, klu buat skali lagi election, kalah kot BN.. derang buat hal macam ni kat sultan, mesti rakyat marah ni…
Anonymous (quite irresponsible, really using anonymous, but ikot suke la:D),
Yes, I really am not in favor of Ahmad Said neither looking at his behavior in the video. But, saying the sultan is making a big mistake? I don’t think we have the knowledge of saying so as he’s also the King of Malaysia and one of the most respectable Sultans to date besides the Sultan of Perak and his son.
In other words, he must have his reason. As we see, Ahmad Said behavior is not really promising. However, how is Idris Jusoh doing behind the scene?
As i said, there’s more behind that. It’s even connected to Pak Lah, KJ, Patrick Lim, Wan Ahmad Farid, Wan Hisham of tourism exco of Terengganu. And of course, the multi millions projects in KT by Patrick Lim. Ok, these are what i read and there’s no proof and i label it as rumour semata2. No confirmation to date, though.
In another note, Malaysiakini reports that he’s not happy with the Batu Buruk incident (Two people shot with live bullets) and the way the police handled the opposition supporters in Rusila, Marang on the day of election. That’s Malaysiakini’s report. I have no idea what is in his highness’s mind.
Let’s wait and see
Agree with Farah/Hubab.
I think our Sultan wisely made some calculations beforehand by choosing an MB that would pose a ‘no-confidence’ motion between UMNO/BN members. This would then lead to a special state by-election (as had happened before at Kelantan in 1977). And by having every eye turning to Terengganu for this highlighted event : More manpower is available to stop phantom voters buses from streaming in. And inshaAllah whoever wins, our SUltan will agree with because he knows that they’ve won Terenganu fairly and cleanly. hehe
Wait, by making this assumption/prediction of our sultan, I am not derhaka-ing also right?
I think we should stop harassing Ahmad Said for the incident in Dewan Rakyat. We never know if he has repented (bertaubat) and asked for forgiveness with the PAS assemblyman. We just hope that he will not do the same thing in the future.
Allah knows best. Oo Allah, please put a right leader to lead my beloved state.
Yeap, he may have. We wouldn’t know. It is not really about him, anyway. I’m just getting the news here and we can discuss a little bit about the happenings. I am really disappointed with UMNO’s decision la, apa2 pun for doing so. Not just because of not being loyal to the Sultan of Terengganu, but also they say it differently when others do it, and now they are doing it.
That’s terrible two-face scenario.
and the politics goes on….
And so do unconstructive comments..
on and on. i just fancy unconstructive comments. just because saya jahil politic. hopefully satu hari nanti datanglah kesedaran untuk ambil tahu pasal politics ni. till then, lalala~
